A Musical Journey of Serenity and Romance Along California’s Coast

Award-winning pianist and composer Ed Bazel invites listeners on a journey of serenity and romance with his newest release, A Weekend in Marin (New Thought Records, 2025). Inspired by the quiet elegance of Northern California’s Marin County, the album unfolds like a love letter—both to the California coast and to life’s most cherished, peaceful moments.

Picture yourself leaving the world behind, driving up the Pacific Coast Highway with golden light over the bay, towering redwoods surrounding you, and the gentle hush of the ocean waves. That’s the feeling captured in this 15-track collection of crystalline piano melodies, enhanced by violinist Austin Hoke, cellist Laura Epling, and GRAMMY®-winning guitarist Jim “Kimo” West.


“It brings me great joy to share with you my newest album,” Ed shares. “Recorded at the legendary Skywalker Sound in Marin County, this music was born from a weekend where serenity, beauty, and inspiration all met in perfect harmony. May these melodies accompany your own moments of escape, romance, and peace.”

The first video single, “Pacific Drive,” beautifully captures the California coastline through the lens of award-winning editor Chuck Crews—a cinematic celebration of the region’s timeless beauty.


Behind the music is a stellar team of producers and engineers, including executive producer Tim Shelton, co-producer Alex Carter, multi-GRAMMY®-winning engineer Leslie Ann Jones, and immersive audio specialists Herb Waltl, Eric Schilling, and Michael Romanowski. The result is a listening experience that is as technically exquisite as it is emotionally moving.


Track highlights include “Moonlight in Muir Woods,” “Romance in the Redwoods,” and “Sunset Over the Bay.”
